SFS point scoring system
How the club's series are scored: the season point score and the spring, summer and autumn series. Each race earns points, and the most points wins.
The Club Championship and the Galloping Ghost / Australian Championship are scored differently, using the standard regatta point score in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
Points for each race
If you finish

- 2nd
- 5 points
- 3rd
- 4 points
- 4th
- 3 points
- 5th and later
- 2 points
If you do not
- DNF
- 1 point
- RAF
- 1 point
- DNS
- 0 points
- DNC
- 0 points
Finishing always counts. Last place still earns 2 points, more than a boat that retires or does not finish.
Retired after finishing (RAF)
A boat that crosses the line but then decides to withdraw, and not be scored as a finisher, is recorded RAF and earns 1 point.
Breaking a tie
If two boats finish a series on the same points, these are applied in order until one is ahead:
- Most wins. If still level, most second places, then most thirds, and so on down the places.
- Best place in the last race, if the count of places cannot separate them.
An example
Two boats end the series on 40 points. One has three wins, the other two, so the boat with three wins is ahead. Had both boats had the same number of firsts, seconds, thirds and every other place, the boat placed higher in the last race would be ahead.
