Margaret Sawyer, wife of life member Bobby and remembered as the Raffle Queen for her fundraising to keep the 18 footers on the water, died on 1 October 2020 aged 90 after 60 years of involvement with the club.
VALE TO TWO OF OUR LEGENDS
John "Jack" Millard
Jack was made a life member of the Sydney Flying Squadron in 2001.
He was a very active member of the club and was in charge of the starter boat for many years. Recently, Jack had moved down the South Coast, however still made it out on the starter boat to oversee the historics on his frequent visits to the big smoke.
Jack left us on 20th August 2020 and is a great loss to the history of our club. He was 84 years old.
Margaret Sawyer
On Thursday 1st October 2020 the club lost one of our most avid supporters.
Wife of Life Member Bobby, Margaret passed away at the age of 90. She had spent 60 of her 90 years engaged with the club.
Many will remember her as the “Raffle Queen”. She participated in all sorts of ways to raise funds for the Social Club and keep her beloved 18-footers on the water.
No doubt she is somewhere sipping on a chardonnay thinking about selling a raffle ticket or two.
Thank you both for your years of dedication and support to the Sydney Flying Squadron - we will miss you both greatly
