Race 19 of the 2020-21 Season and Race 3 of the Autumn Point Score.

The SFS Historic 18s race was recognised in the annual Sydney Harbour Regatta (SHR), conducted by the Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

It was a busy day on the harbour with the running of the SHR along with the first race of the annual J.J. Giltinan 18 Foot skiff championship.

Seven skiffs were on hand for the race. The race got underway from a handicap start off Robinson’s Point on the no.3 SE course.

The four limit skiffs Aberdare, Britannia, Scot and Tangalooma got away to a well contested start, then Top Weight (14 min), Australia IV (6 min) and Yendys off scratch.

Photos today are thanks to Chuck and Phil Franklin.

With thanks to the on-water support team of Stu, Suzy, Chuck, Russell and Bill, along with COVID Marshalls Tomoko and Nicki. A special mention to Pascal, Adeline and Eddie for manning the BBQ and ensuring the hungry sailors were fed.

With mark rounding and on-water observations provided by Peter Notley.

The full race report is provided by Bob Chapman and is available on the SFS website here: SFS Results

The 12s were back on Sunday for the ongoing sprint series. Race results can be found here: SailingResults.com

The Boat Ramp

Did you know that North Sydney Council have agreed to clean the boat ramp on a quarterly basis?? (Thanks North Sydney Council)

In between those quarterly cleans, it is over to the SFS volunteers to manage the inevitable fauna and flora left behind by the ocean.

Bright and early on Saturday morning (at low tide) our SFS Club Captain, David Grinston rallied some volunteers from the Aus4 crew to pressure clean the ramp.
