Queen of the Harbour Race 15 of the season was the iconic Queen of the Harbour race. Queen of the harbour race, which was originally known as the Queen of the waves race first took place in 1936 and early in 1937 incorporated a Queen of the Waves competition to raise funds for the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in Camperdown. To this day the Queen of the Harbour race proudly continues. For this year’s race, we had 5 skiffs on hand to prepare for the race, with Britannia unable to sail The weather was glorious with a moderate north east wind for the afternoon’s race. Some skiffs decided on no.3 rig while others decided on no.2. After a short delay, the race was underway from a handicap start off Double Bay. Tangalooma was first skiff away off 15 mins, then Australia (11), Australia IV (8), the Mistake (1) and Yendys.

The wind picked up around Chowder, making for an exhilarating and fast race. Tangalooma and Yendys took turns in the lead with The Mistake quickly closing the gap making for an exhilarating race. After a thrilling day, The Queen of the Harbour honours went to Stephanie Graves on The Mistake, along with Kerrie Boyd on Yendys, Tatiana and Anna on Australia IV, Coral and Nina on Tangaloom.
