The story

The club's record of this boat's original history is short. If you know more, the club's historian would like to hear from you through the contribution route.

Scot was launched in 1906 at Cook Street, Glebe. The builder was Joe Donnelly. Peter Cowie is in the white hat in the launching photograph.

The replica was built from the half model by Reg Barrington and Len Heffernan, and was sailed by the builder shortly before his death on 6th June 1997.

Both Tangalooma and Scot were containerised for shipment to the United Kingdom in 1998 for a centennial rematch of the 1898 challenge for the Anglo-American Shield between the Medway Club (England) with Maid of Kent and the SFS (Sydney) with Irex, an event inspired by SFS founder Mark Foy (1865-1950). The original trophy is now proudly displayed at the SFS.
