Part 2 of the season presentation covers the inaugural Galloping Ghost Australian Championship series. The Mistake won Heat 1 and the J J Watt Commodore Cup, with Yendys taking Heat 2 on handicap.

2019-20 Season Results & Trophy Presentations (Part 2 of 4) "Welcome to part 2 of the SFS 2019-2020 Presentation Night COVID-19 style. Tonight's presentation will cover the 2020 AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP - THE GALLOPING GHOST SERIES"
This was the inaugural event where each race was awarded its own trophy to rebirthing three of the four trophies gifted back to the Sydney Flying Squadron on 18 November 2018 by the Monckton family.
HEAT 1 - January 18th This was held in memory of William James Anderson (1885-1965). Over 30 years, “Bill” was on the SFS Executive Committee and owned four 18footers. His boats won the State Championships from 1939-41, and the Australian Championship 1962-64 (Aberdare III). The winner of the J J Watt Commodore Cup (the trophy on the left in the photo above) is..... HEAT 2 - January 25th This heat was raced for Bill Barnett OAM (1915-2018), a true legend of the sport and a boat builder of great repute. The handicap winner of this race will be awarded the 1933 Scotchman Hill Cup given by J J Giltinan and won by Defiance on 4 March 1933 (the middle trophy above). And the winner is…. HEAT 3 - February 1 Held in memory of Len Heffernan (1924-2017), a self-motivated champion who won 5 Australian titles and the world championship and whose involvement with 18-Footers spanned 50 successful years. The handicap winner will be awarded the 1930 Scotchman Hill Cup won by Kiwi (Ossie Hahn) on 8 March 1930 (the trophy on the right). The winner is... LET'S NOT FORGET THE RAW MEAT TROPHY Made from an old bumpkin off the original Britannia, this trophy features, and is named after George “Raw Meat” Pearce, a well known character and past member of the club. It is awarded to the handicap winner of the series and because of the nature of our automatic handicapping system, the winner can be rightly proud of having sailed at their best. Special mention goes out to some of our Sailing Committee and Board members who have been keeping an eye out on our club over the past few weeks: - Thanks to Terry Stewart for installing a padlock on the deck roller door to ensure our treasures are kept safe and secure - Thanks to David Grinston and Micheal Van Stom for pressure cleaning the boat ramp today - Thanks to Commodore Loader and Chucky Goodfellow for taking care
of the safety boats during the off season, and - Thanks to the group who came to the club to move boats around to make more room in the boat shed, and finally... - Thanks to Nicki and Seb who are keeping the club ticking along behind the scenes while we are in this mandatory shut down
